The development of a line, animation

Animating for custom screens needs a fine array of coded motion controls to tune the speed and dynamics of motion graphics. Custom screens in these cases means hand made pixel arrays. Most of our (Robyn Backen and I) experience has been in the architectural space* This has been a wonderful development of a very niche subset of animating graphics for custom screens.

We expectation of elegant fluid movement of screen elements. A swipe, a rush, a cascade require a carefully moderated set of motion tools to test and deliver the results we want. These custom screens have very large pitches so can appear jerky or “caterpillaring” across the large screens. LED’s don’t have gradients to black so smudging the image between pixels is not possible in a conventional sense.
