Uno weaves texts about home into a 13 metre animation

This work is the second work commissioned by Culture Capital and the dream team. Robyn Backen’s artwork weaves narratives works and harmonics on the themes of home. I worked closely with her on cinematic and animation concepts to animate on this challenging screen.

Uno’s unique low resolution screen took us into some interesting animation problems to realise our vision. There were problems of image resolution, tone control with 8 bit colour, and antialiasing problems with moving pictures elements. Over some months we ran test rigs and developed a testing framework to tune the content for the screen. Each one of these problems deserve their own chapters.
