‘A picture tells a thousand words.’…the inspiration for an innovative new exhibition, in which the public becomes the curator. Sydney Living Museums
This innovative web and animation project opened up new territory for us. Public comments on social platforms, responses from writers and artists on the 100 images drawn from the NSW Archives form a key part in animations and wordclouds developed for the online catalogue and exhibition at Sydney Living Museums.
Conceived by Dr Penny Stannard from Archives NSW and developed in collaboration with the team from Sydney Living Museums the project was develped into a rich exploration of interpretive curatorial and exhibition design.
Breakthroughs came in the form of developing an animation language responding to the ‘mood’ of each image in the 30min motion graphic. Mr Snow from Holly integrated the 30,000 social responses in the word-cloud pages on A Thousand Words Site developed for the show.
